Mother Kart 8 - Non-Profit Disclaimer

Hey Nintendo! I fear there’s a chance that you guys go after me for a project like this. Rather than seeing this as an infringement on your properties, I ask that you see this as my portfolio and proposal for a full-scale remix project for Mario Kart World. Based on my understanding and time playing, there are over 300 songs in Mario Kart World that remix tracks from a countless number of games throughout the Mario Kart franchise and beyond. The genres covered are boundless: From the classic Mario Kart Jazz Fusion to 2010’s-styled EDM to “Lo-Fi Beats You Can Study To” and so, so much more.

I see that all as an incredible opportunity. From its expanded World Map to the new costumes found within, Mario Kart World embodies themes of cultural exploration and diversity. The soundtrack does this through its variety of genres and historical references, but I think we could take it one step forward through a project like Mother Kart. 300+ songs mean 300+ remixes, which is a huge number of opportunities for Nintendo to reach further into cultural communities across the globe. A single Mario Kart remix available exclusively through Nintendo Music with an artist such as Lady Gaga or Bad Bunny would attract a larger base of potential new Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online / Nintendo Music than any game release I can think of. I believe it would attract and entice consumers who have never touched a controller, not unlike the NFL using pop-music during their half-time shows to attract non-sports fans.

Respectfully, please hear me out. If I could officially remix an artist like Lady Gaga using cleared samples from Nintendo, I would. But the truth is that if I reached out to either party for permission in that pursuit, I’d never hear back. I’m a grain of sand in the beach of this world and media industry. But if we worked alongside each other and I was able to ask artists for their permission through Nintendo: We wouldn’t only hear back, we’d hear yes. There are millions of people across the globe who would love nothing more than to work with Nintendo IP yet have lives that will never put them in the position to do so. A project like this, with over 300 songs could be that opportunity for me. Not just for me, though. That’s the beauty of remixing!

I hope that my love for Nintendo and Mario Kart truly shines through with my work here, and I hope that you are able to see the value of what I’ve made with that adoration. I’ve been playing Mario Kart 8 since May 30, 2014. I remember when it was a Wii U game, and here I am in the year 2026 committing my creativity fully to the game and its branding: With my love for the franchise and your resources, we could make a huge impact on pop culture and its various intersections. Not to mention the $$$ in NSO subscriptions, too. Think on it for me.

(DJing at Nintendo World for the project’s release? I can see it already. Let’s make it happen!)
